Kalorik Maxx 26 Quart Digital Air Fryer Oven AFO 46045 SS

I got this due to the “listed capabilities”. I read many terror reviews, and many glorifying the unit. I saw it went on sale, so why not. This is my first air fryer. The first day I seared the unit, blasting it on air fry @ 500 degrees for 5 min or so per the instructions, and scrubbed the trays, basket, and accessories. They trays and baskets are super cheaply made, and to be safe, I cooked them another 5 minutes to make sure they were dry. Water was getting inside edges. The next day I put it to the test with steak. Got a ribeye, just over an inch thick. I followed the instructions for steak, and not the recipe. For some reason they are different. Preheat 5 minutes, 4 min for each side of the steak. As with many other reviews, steam did come from the unit. I took the photo in poor light not thinking, should have made a video. Also my entire place filled with smoke. How the smoke detectors didn’t go off, I’m not sure. Had to turn the AC off and open windows. After it cooked, I sat it on the plate to rest, while I finished my side dishes. This was a good call. By the time my sides were ready a few minutes later, the entire plate was filled with streak juice, and had to use a second plate for everything else. I cut into the steak, and even more juices flowed out. It maybe the best tasting steak in my life. It’s maybe only twice in my life a meal was so good I was more hungry after eating it was that good, and this was one of them. Haven’t used the actual air fryer yet, perhaps I should have just bought a convection oven, but the French doors and presets are what sold me. The unit worked fine cooking. It’s not orderless or smokeless (mind you the steak is set to the top rack at 500 degrees so..) and the racks and trays I don’t expect to live long. I will update after using more features. Update: Its been 5 months. I don’t use it often, but when I do use it, its easy. With the large windows, its easy to see when food is done, just push the light button. I started cooking steaks not on the top level, but one level down. Not only does it cut down on the smoke, but makes it easier to wipe down after with less splatter, just add a few minutes to the cooking time. I washed one of the trays a little too hard, and it bent out of shape. Unfortunately its in a way I can’t just bend it back without risking destroying it, so .. still cheaply made particularly with the inserts. The unit itself has been solid and reliable for me at least. If there was replacement trays available, or a higher quality set you can buy, I would be happier. Is it worth the price? Depends on how much its on sale. Your paying for 3 things, size, number of presets, and looks. Its nice to throw a large steak in there, a small pizza, or a few slices or Elios pizza right from the freezer. The presets are handy if you are a newbie as I was for a ball park time. I find myself now using that just as a reference, and adjusting accordingly. Yes, it is shiny, and the glass french doors are a nice touch. If you are looking at this unit, this manufacture has another model that is near identical with a metal searing base for steak lines. Otherwise its pretty much the same.
