Good quality. However, it did not fit on my Bosch router. I had to re-drill some holes. Overall cut circles Excellent. I have not used it for an ellipse yet.

I needed to cut 36 inch OD, 32 inch ID “rings” out of 23/32 plywood for the top and bottom of a cylindrical frame. I used a plunge router with a 1/2 inch bit. I made 4 passes to make my way through. The first ring was cut without problems. When I made the first thin pass on the second ring, I didn’t end up with the same radius as I completed my circle. At first I thought the threaded knob used to adjust the radius had slipped. In fact, what I found was that the metal pivot pin on the dovetail key that the whole assembly pivots on had shifted and was leaning instead of being vertical. Be very careful. This component is the major stress point and should be made of something stronger like metal. I got the job done using the second dove tail key, but the failure cost me $25 of trashed plywood.

This is a nice tool for cutting circles and oval shapwes. However, it can be a bit tough to use. To be fair let me indicate I am no carpenter or master of tools type of guy. I needed to build a table with an oval cut out and decided to do it my self. The first attempt was an utter failure. The second attempt was a success. I noticed that the guide pieces were a bit stiff while moving through the guide groves. Now that could be just me. My neighbor, however, is a carpenter, and he builds houses and he borrowed it for a couple oval counter tops. The counter tops were beautiful, but he did notice the stiff almost catching feel while performing his cuts. That all being said it is still a good tool for making circle and oval cuts.
