This would be a great jig but the one I received had the scales on the sides out of position by 3/16th of an inch. I could calculate the error into my flutting but for the price I shouldn’t have to.

As a novice woodworker, I wanted to attempt my first real flutes on a maple bedstand project. The flutes were to be 3 1/2″ flutes evenly distributed on a 3″ by 24″ maple board (3/4″ thick) with 22.5′ mitered edges on the long axis. After spending several hours trying to make a jig out of spare wood, I gave up and decided to just order this Rockler jig.
The package arrived the next day and was easy to assemble. It fit my Hitachi router and plunge base no problem, so I did not have to drill new holes. The setup was straight forward (be sure to read the instructions) and I love the ability to put pencil marks for the flute centers! Once I had everything setup correctly and the board in place with stop blocks, I was able to make beautiful flutes in short order. My only mistake is I broke a primary rule of woodworking I didn’t test the bit depth on a scrap board first and did my first run on the production board thus ruining it (my bad). After quickly making a new board and setting the depth to my liking, it worked like a champ. Highly recommended if you want to make nice looking flutes!

This jig is pretty good. It worked well for me but there were a couple of small issues. One was that the ruler guide was coming unglued out of the box. This did not affect me because I caught it early. My biggest issue was that the holes in the jig would not match up to my router base. In desperation, I aligned the base and drilled the holes myself. I took my time to get my bit as centered as I could and my flutes turned out pretty good so all is well.
